Directions to Our Practice
If you’ve never been to our practice before, you can follow one of these routes, both starting from the West Irving Library (don’t worry, you won’t have to get on a toll road).
- Get onto Rochelle Rd heading west, then turn right onto the Texas 161 Frontage Rd. Turn left onto Belt Line Rd, then turn right onto Campus Cir Dr. Turn left onto Longhorn Dr, then right onto John Carpenter Fwy, looping over Hwy 114. Turn right onto Parkridge Blvd, then left onto Kinwest Pkwy. We’re in the first set of red-roofed buildings on the right.
- Another way to avoid the toll road is to go east on Rochelle Rd, then north on Belt Line Rd and stay on that until the turn onto Campus Cir Dr, and the rest of the route is the same as above.
How Much Local History Do You Know?
Irving, Texas, was founded in 1903 by J.O. “Otto” Schulze and Otis Brown, named after the literary author Washington Irving, a favorite of Otis Brown’s wife, Netta Barcus Brown. The city was initially part of an area known as Gorbit in 1889 and was later renamed Kit in 1894 before finally being incorporated as Irving in 1914, with Otis Brown as its first mayor. Over the years, Irving developed from a small community with churches, cotton gins, a blacksmith shop, and a general store into a significant urban center.
The public school system started with the establishment of Kit and Lively schools in 1909. Despite slow population growth initially, the city began expanding more rapidly in the 1930s, and by the early 1960s, the population reached about 45,000. The city’s growth continued with the establishment of the University of Dallas in 1956, the building of Texas Stadium in 1971, home to the Dallas Cowboys, and the opening of the Chateau Theater in 1964.
